Release of OpenMediaVault 2.1 (Stone burner)

Today i am happy to announce the release of OpenMediaVault version 2.1 (Stone burner).

A big thank you goes to all translators and forum moderators for their contributions and support.

The main features at a glance:

  • Using Sencha ExtJS 5.1.1 framework for the WebGUI
  • Add a new dashboard and widgets
  • Many internal improvements and bugfixes
  • Improved the internal network interface backend
  • Add Wi-Fi support. Only WPA & WPA2 is supported
  • Add VLAN support
  • The network interface configuration page has been modified. Now only the configuration values are displayed. Use the dashboard widget to show the state of all network interfaces.
  • The public key of the user must now be specified in the RFC 4716 SSH public key file format. It is possible to add multiple keys.
  • Option to turn off the collection of system performance statistics.
  • Use the browser local storage to store the WebGUI state (e.g. displayed grid columns, column width, …) instead of cookies.

The whole changelog for 2.1 can be viewed here.

Support is available through the forum: FAQ, Upgrade guide to 2.x and the general guide section.

The 32 and 64 bit ISO images can be downloaded here.

  1. I have install the Demo. IT works but i cant install IT a second, when i want to Do that i get a message ‘grub bootloader can Not be install’

And i cant See my disks. In the RAID Management when i want to make a New RAID System.

  2. I have the same problem I had with 1.9. Was hoping the new 2.1 might fix it, but no. I can not get OpenMedia up and running even one time. The Realtek ethernet card is seen and used through the entire installation process. DHCP and IPv6 all configure flawlessly, however when system boots after completion,
can not find or load interface. Flat out doesn’t see it. Even disable 2nd nic (wireless) and still no go. Any ideas? Thanks!

  3. Looks like a great release. Congratulations !

It’s a pity that you have the ISO files hosted on Sourceforge. The issues with Malware being inserted into downloads by Sourceforge has been widely discussed in the media recently. If you haven’t heard about the malware issues, then do a web search using the following parameters —– Sourceforge Malware.

I think it would be a great move forward if you were able to find an OpenMediaVault download host with a better reputation than Sourceforge.
    Thanks again RoyG

  4. The demo does not work, I see only a blue screen, above is a black bar that shows the user and login information, but the blue area is completely empty, no login screen, nothing. Please fix the demo.

  5. thanks for your efforts. I love omv but I don’t understand a Linux based NAS solution which doesn’t consider full support of BTRFS.. that’s why I may switch to Rockstor very soon. Sorry

    • OMV does not support BTRFS at the moment because it does not have RAID5 and 6 in the official Debian OS which is used for OMV. As soon as these RAID types are supported OMV will switch to BTRFS.

  6. Thank you so much for the continued work you do on this. I have tried so many servers over the years. Best product I ever used to stream my home media. You are the best!

  7. Thanks for new release! But I have troubles with LVM plugin again. When I try to create Logical Volume I cant choose/change its size. When I do all nessesary from cli – everything is fine.

  8. Awesome! Looking forward to installing the new version.
One quick question, how did you come up with the name “Stone Burner”?

  9. How can i verify if my current plugins (1.19 Kralizec) are compatible with version 2.1 (Stone burner)?
    I currently have:

    openmediavault-mysql 1.0.16
    openmediavault-nginx 1.3-1
    openmediavault-omvextrasorg 1.29
